Fantastic Negrito Shares Two New Songs ‘I Hope Somebody’s Loving You’ and ‘Crooked Road’

3x GRAMMY® Award-winner Fantastic Negrito has shared two powerful songs from his upcoming new album, “I Hope Somebody’s Loving You,” and “Crooked Road,” both available today via his own Storefront Records. Fantastic Negrito’s first full-length release since 2022’s acclaimed Grandfather Courage, Son of a Broken Man arrives everywhere on Friday, October 18. Pre-orders are available now.

“Try not to cheat on your woman try not to cheat on your man,” says Fantastic Negrito of “I Hope Somebody’s Loving You.” “ I’ve been on tour a long time. I’ve spent so many days weeks and months away from home and encountered so many beautiful people on the planet and this just became a common theme in my head and heart –I hope we are all experiencing a version of love.

“I wrote ‘Crooked Road’ about determination, never giving up, deep breath, reset, refresh,” he continues. “This has been the theme of my life and it continues to be. I thrive off inspiration and this song embodied it for me. We might think that our life has serious challenges, but trust me, someone else out there has even more than you.”

PRE-ORDER SON OF A BROKEN MAN

Son of a Broken Man was first heralded last month with the premiere of two album highlights, “California Loner” and “Runaway From You.” The new album sees Fantastic Negrito encapsulating the inimitable elements of his celebrated body of work to date, from hard-hitting distorted guitar riffs to melodic and expressive ballads, all fueled by the unexpected twists that have become his trademark. The album stands as perhaps Fantastic Negrito’s most personal thus far, exploring family, deception, and the human desire to hide the true self as he dives deep into one of the oldest conflicts in human history, the struggle between father and son. Beginning at a young age, Negrito was served untruths by his father. A made-up last name, a fabricated ancestry, and a fake Somali accent. Why lie? Why create this false narrative? Those are the questions Negrito had to ask himself and the questions that lie at the heart of Son of a Broken Man.

Son of a Broken Man was preceded earlier this summer by “Undefeated Eyes,” a deeply soulful collaboration with 17x GRAMMY Award-winning® legend Sting available everywhere now. Recorded in 2020 at Fantastic Negrito’s West Oakland studio, just days before COVID lockdown policies went into effect, the track is joined by an official music video co-starring the two iconic artists, filmed last month in Nieuwpoort, Belgium and streaming now on YouTube.
