Southern Rockers Stone Senate Releases New Single “Shine”

Nashville-based Southern rock band Stone Senate releases their new single “Shine” from their EP titled Dawn, a 70s influenced kick a** modern rock track. There’s more to look forward to with Stone Senate as they will release five more tracks this year from their upcoming release Between the Dark and the Light, produced by Toby Wright (KISS, Alice In Chains, Korn, Metallica.)

Stone Senate’s “Shine” combines a cracking, punchy, guitar-oriented verse and an expansive and melodic chorus to end up with a track that has “hit single” written all over it. Lead singer Clint Woolsey has a distinctive baritone style that sets him apart from most rock singers and he puts it to excellent use here. “Shine” is a huge-sounding track from the jump and stretches coast-to-coast when the chorus hits. The harmonized guitars in the middle section also help widen the vibe. It’s a fine example of a band reinventing its influences to become something entirely new and amazing. Armed with songs like this, Stone Senate is definitely bound for bigger, global things.

For guitarist James Edwards, “Shine” is reminiscent of being back home and having the thought of knowing where you’re supposed to be. “‘Shine” originated from a stack of demos I recorded in my home studio in Mississippi while writing for the record,” says James.

Making a strenuous effort year-round as a five-piece band, James adds, “Honestly, the subject matter of the song was inspired by a painting that was in my family Bible — Jacob wrestling with an Angel. I thought about how we sometimes know exactly what we need, but still fight it tooth and nail. It just flowed from there.”

Playing “Shine” live, lead singer Clint Woolsey says, “It’s a rocker, and getting the crowd to sing along to that massive chorus is just natural. Clint adds, “It’s hard to play that one without a bit of a smile on your face.

Fronted by lead vocalist/guitarist Clint Woolsey’s smoldering, soulful vocals and unmistakable stage presence, stage left and stage right are burning with dual lead guitars of James Edwards and Ted Hennington. Add to these the blood bonded rhythm section of “The Mud Brothers”- Paul Zettler on bass/vocals and David Zettler on drums/vocals, and lightning strikes.

Clint adds, “The album ‘Between the Dark and the Light’ covers the entire spectrum of music, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. This feels like the best album we (Stone Senate) have done and was written by all 5 band members (James Edwards, Paul Zettler, David Zettler, Ted Hennington, and Clinton Woolsey, as well as our buddy and producer, Toby Wright.”

Since 2012, Stone Senate has been continuously growing its fan base through relentless year-round touring. Their soulful vocals and unmistakable stage presence have allowed them to play over 500 shows in the last few years across the country. A steady stream of concerts is being added by Stone Senate, and they’re excited to continue releasing new music in 2022. “Shine” will be available on all streaming platforms on Friday, May 13th.

2014 marked the band’s debut studio record titled ‘I’ produced by Vance Powell and Eddie Spear, releasing five singles. In 2016, Stone Senate teamed up with famed guitarist Kenny Olson (Kid Rock, seven Day Binge) to co-produce the second album Star City which released three singles. Late 2019 brought the band together with Rollin’ The Dice Records and Copperline Music Group and releases several singles and EP Dusk in 2021.
