New Blues-Rock Supergroup Feat. Ian Moore, Jesse Dayton and John Moeller are the Texas Headhunters
After months of rumors and underground buzz, it’s official: Texas Headhunters has arrived.
These are heavyweights. Between them, they’ve shared stages with legends, earned Grammy nods, and left their mark on everything from Austin’s Antone’s scene to global tours. Moore’s genre-defying solo work, Dayton’s outlaw energy and Grammy-nominated collaborations, and Moeller’s deep-pocket groove make for a band rooted in tradition but unafraid to burn it down and build something new.
With a full band behind them, the sound is massive—Moore’s psychedelic edge, Moeller’s hypnotic rhythm, and Dayton’s gritty stomp crashing together into something thrilling and untamed. Think Gulf Coast sweat, Hill Country attitude, and Antone’s spirit—all cranked to eleven.
Fans will get their first chance to catch Texas Headhunters live this June, when the band joins Samantha Fish’s Paper Dolls Tour for a limited run of exclusive preview dates.
Texas Headhunters is the explosive new band uniting three of the Lone Star State’s most respected guitar slingers: Ian Moore, Jesse Dayton, and Johnny Moeller. While each brings a distinct musical identity, they share a deep foundation in Texas blues, decades of hard-earned credibility, and a fearless drive to push American roots music into uncharted territory.
Ian Moore first made waves in the 1990s as a rising force out of Austin, opening for legends like the Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, and Bob Dylan. While the industry saw a clear path to guitar-hero stardom, Moore took a more adventurous route—building a rich, diverse body of work that blends blues, soul, psychedelia, and sharp songwriting. Known for his electrifying live shows and deep musicality, Moore remains one of Texas’ most respected and versatile artists.
Jesse Dayton has carved out one of the most unconventional careers in roots music. A native of Beaumont, he cut his teeth backing country icons like Waylon Jennings before veering into punk, film, and horror soundtracks with Rob Zombie. In recent years, he’s become a torchbearer for modern blues rock—touring extensively with Samantha Fish and co-writing their Grammy-nominated Deathwish Blues, followed by his acclaimed 2024 solo album The Hard Way Blues. Dayton brings grit, swagger, and a sharp storyteller’s edge to the Headhunters.
Johnny Moeller, longtime guitarist for The Fabulous Thunderbirds, is a pillar of the Antone’s scene in Austin and one of the most respected blues stylists of his generation. Known for his impeccable tone, deep groove, and tasteful restraint, Moeller has backed up legends while influencing a new wave of players. Whether on a festival stage or in a smoky club, his playing always hits the mark.
The band’s chemistry was immediate, and the sound—urgent, soulful, and electric—is already turning heads. Texas Headhunters formed in early 2025, and their live debut kicks off this June with a short run of shows alongside Samantha Fish. New music is on the way later this summer.
