The Black Keys Release ‘The Night Before’ Single

Grammy-winning rock duo The Black Keys will kick off the first leg of the “No Rain, No Flowers Tour” on May 23rd in Oklahoma and continue through over a dozen iconic venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre and The Greek Theatre before returning to Europe in July.

The band, comprised of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, marked the occasion with the release of a new song, the loose and groovy “The Night Before” out via Easy Eye Sound/Warner Records.

The pair wrote the tune with Grammy award winning songwriter Daniel Tashian. The resulting track is airy and elastic, with a sticky melody made all the more infectious by Auerbach’s soulful delivery and Carney’s crisp and funky beat.

“It’s so groove-based,” Auerbach says. “‘The Night Before’ started with a chord progression that Daniel and I came up with and the rest just fell out. It was really collaborative and all came together in about 30 minutes.”

“We’ve never really worked with songwriters like that in Nashville,” Carney adds. “It’s crazy because Daniel was one of the first people I met when I moved to town over a decade ago. But we pushed ourselves to bring in some new co-writers, and we really tapped into something cool with Daniel. We’re finishing up the album now and plan to release more tracks leading into the tour.”

The Black Keys will release their 13th studio album No Rain, No Flowers via Easy Eye Sound/Warner Records later this year. No Rain, No Flowers is an especially personal project for the Black Keys, who were forced to cancel their 2024 North American International Players Tour following an emotional dispute with their former management company. Now, with a fresh outlook, the duo has hit reset and crafted its most ambitious and adventurous album yet, braiding together the pair’s sprawling, eclectic musical influences. They’ll bring their revitalized energy to their upcoming tour where they’ll pull from their critically acclaimed two-decade deep catalog.

Formed in Akron, Ohio in 2001, The Black Keys are singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. The Black Keys have been called ‘rock royalty’ by the Associated Press and ‘one of the best rock ‘n’ roll bands on the planet’ by Uncut. Cutting their teeth playing small clubs, the band has gone on to sell out arena tours and has released twelve previous studio albums: the debut The Big Come Up (2002), followed by Thickfreakness (2003) and Rubber Factory (2004), along with their releases on Nonesuch Records: Magic Potion (2006), Attack & Release (2008), Brothers (2010), El Camino (2011), Turn Blue (2014), “Let’s Rock” (2019), Delta Kream (2021), Dropout Boogie (2022), and Ohio Players (2024).The band has won six Grammy Awards, a BRIT Award and headlined festivals in North America, South America, Mexico, Australia, and Europe.
