Aerosmith To Retire From Touring

Aerosmith announced today that they will retire from touring due to lead singer Steven Tyler’s vocal injury.

Via social media, the band said, “It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.

We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”

The band continued, “We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you – the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.”

In 2023, the band postponed their 2023 Peace Out: The Farewell Tour after discovering that Tyler’s vocal injury was more serious than once thought. Last year, he fractured his larynx.

One of America’s greatest rock bands, Aerosmith has released 15 studio albums, six live albums, 16 compilation albums, and two EPs. They’ve sold over 150 million albums, making them the biggest selling rock band in U.S. history. Their catalogue is loaded with hits and classics from “Walk This Way,” “Train Kept A Rollin’,” and “Back In The Saddle” to “Dream On,” “Draw The Line,” and “Seasons Of Wither.”

They started winning Grammy Awards in 1990 and have four in total from 17 nominations. They have also won six American Music Awards from ten nominations. You have to hand it to Aerosmith for being one of the forerunners in hard rock and maintaining their headliner status through the present day.

Formed in Boston in 1970, the band is made up of Steven Tyler (lead vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass) Joey Kramer (drums), and Brad Whiteford (guitar.) While rooted in blues-based rock, they also incorporated elements of heavy metal, R&B, and pop. Aerosmith has been one of our favorite rock bands since their single “Dream On” from their 1973 self-titled debut release which became their first major hit.

Although we’d rather not see the band retire, we respect them for doing so now. We wish the band well and send good wishes to Steven Tyler. They will always be one of the great rock bands ever.
