Cody Belew Releases New Single and Video ‘Long Long Row’
The latest release from high-flying Southern glam rock artist Cody Belew has been brought to life in an irreverent new music video. “Long, Long Row” fuses Cody’s signature soul and southern roots with a driving rhythm and charm, creating a hit that stays with you long after hearing it. Released via Visionary Media Group, it’s an anthem for anyone facing a challenging road to righteousness, inspired by a phrase Belew’s father often used; “My dad always told me that if you’re going to try for something difficult, it’s going to be a long row to hoe. That can be applied to so many pursuits in life,” he says. The new single is taken from his upcoming album I Did It For Love out September 20th.

Conceptualized and co-directed by Belew, the music video playfully toys with this idea as it relates to his commitment to social justice and civil rights reform set against his bluesy vocals. The video sees two crooked cops, played by TikTok-famous comedian Andi Marie Tillman and local actor Kelsie Craig, unknowingly allowing their prisoner Cody Belew to escape. What results is a sequence of physical comedy antics, reminiscent of Chaplin’s famous films, and a light-hearted story of Southern justice with nods to deeper meaning.
Hailed by Consequence as “one of the freshest voices coming out of Nashville,” Southern glam rock artist Cody Belew’s music reflects his soulful roots through authentic storytelling and commanding vocals. Assembling a mix of candid originals and well-loved classics by artists who inspired him, Cody released his self-titled debut EP in early 2022. Cody Belew was led by the single “Rodeo,” which premiered in Times Square and found regular rotation on CMT. He received praise for his reimagining of the Brooks & Dunn classic “Neon Moon” (a collaboration with GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Dave Audé), which topped a variety of popular Spotify playlists and recently surpassed three million streams on the platform.
Belew recently landed a coveted spot in CMT’s lauded “Listen Up” class (which counts Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, Thomas Rhett, and Maren Morris as alumni) leading into the release of his poignant single “Charlene”, in which the former Southern Baptist questioned the marriage of religion and politics in America. Striking a chord with fans, the accompanying powerful video racked up over one million views on YouTube.
The title track “I Did It For Love” from his forthcoming debut album of the same name was released in September. Inspired by the actions of another artist whose insecurities villainized Cody, the song led him to realize that everything he does comes from a place of love. Grimy Goods called the single “meteoric and captivating… One inspired by the arresting magnetism of Freddie Mercury – though he also echoes Orville Peck’s enigmatic allure and a talent for crafting country pop hooks like Kacey Musgraves.” His single “Horseshoes & Hand Grenades”, released in May, saw its inspiration from the country music of the 1970s, primarily due to the heavy influence of disco during that time. The accompanying videos for both singles are currently in full rotation on CMT, presenting Cody at his most bold and bedazzled.
A long-time Nashville resident, Cody is spending the summer releasing new music as he makes his way towards the September release of his debut record, I Did It For Love, in which he’ll traverse between his deep-seated love of Southern music and his obligation to activism.
