Multi Award-Winner Elles Bailey Releases New Single ‘Mumma and Me’ from her upcoming EP
‘Mumma & Me’ is the first single from Elles Bailey’s brand-new EP, due to be released early Spring ‘24. Written for her Mum during lockdown, the track was recorded with Redtenbacher’s Funkestra.
Drawing vibes and inspiration from the likes of Dusty Springfield, this song shows Elles in a slightly different light — less rocky, more soulful — but undeniably the one and only Elles Bailey. A meaningful song written for her mother, Elles reveals her vulnerable side, her voice rich and expressive on this rootsy, meaningful song.
Written by Elles and co-produced by Elles, Stefan Redtenbacher, James Welch, the track is suffused in strings and wonderful harmonies, and this song marks the start of a bright new chapter for the award-winning Elles!
Elles’ studio band for the track features Stefan Redtenbacher on bass; Tony Remy, on guitar; Ross Stanley, on Hammond and piano; Mike Sturgis on drums; Kim Keyes, on BGVs; plus the strings provided by Sarah Brandwood-Spencer, on violin; Simon Turner, viola; Pete Whitfield, on violin and viola.
“I’m very proud of ‘Mumma and Me'”, reflects Elles, “It was written during the first couple of weeks of lockdown, as a gift to my mother for Mother’s Day (whom I of course, couldn’t see). Inspired by our unique personalities and her unconditional love, I truly feel I captured her spirit in this song.
“Then, at the tail-end of 2020, I had the great pleasure of being invited to collaborate with Redtenbacher’s Funkestra at the Masterlink Studio in Surrey. When discussing what songs to record I just knew we had to do this one, as it would fit the soulful nature of the band perfectly.

“We recorded it live in one take but then we added the beautiful string arrangement and wonderful vocal stylings of Kim Keyes (whom I had previously with on ‘Road I Call Home’ and ‘Wildfire’) to give it some extra sparkle and va-va-voom!
“Today, this very special song is finally being released, and it just so happens to coincide with a very big birthday for my incredible mum! So Happy Birthday You Queen — Thank you for always inspiring, encouraging, and nurturing! You truly are one-of-a-kind and I am so glad the song that celebrates your beauty is finally out in the world in all its glory!”
