Rock & Blues Muse is please to premiere the new single “Shudda Known” by blues rockers Wreckless Strangers from their upcoming EP Orange Sky Dream.

Wreckless Strangers is a collective of six Bay Area musicians known for their collaborative
songwriting, high-energy live shows, and their unique blend of Americana, rock, and blues. The
band features Amber Morris on vocals; David Noble (Poor Man’s Whiskey, Pardon The Interruption) on lead guitar, vocals; Joshua Zucker (The Jones Gang, Rowan Brothers) on bass; Austin de Lone
(Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, The Fabulous Thunderbirds) on keys; Mick Hellman (The Go To Hell
Man Band) on drums and vocals; and Rob Anderson (repeat world champion cyclist) on guitar.
Since the release of their debut album, this powerhouse group has hit the road, bringing
electrifying music and captivating performances to fans across the nation.

Originally penned about a past heartbreak, the band’s vision for the song shifted dramatically during a transformative journey through Mendocino County. Inspired by the environmental
devastation witnessed in their home state of California, lead guitarist David Noble and the
band’s collective genius set out to give the track a fresh and urgent purpose. Noble reflects, “I
felt the lyrics needed to encompass a much more dire situation – the climate and the
environment. We’ve seen a lot of devastation on that front here in California, and we wanted to
bring that into the song. Thus, “Shudda Known” was (re)born!”

“Shudda Known” is a hard, heavy blues/rock track that straight-talks an important and relevant message about climate change. Over a bed of crunching guitars and pumping drums, vocalist Amber Morris shouts out all of the warning signs we missed and continue to ignore. David Noble’s guitar lines wail right back at her, underscoring the urgency in her every word. The beat is slow, tough, and tight, allowing plenty of time and space for Morris to preach and present. This is the funkiest, most righteous protest song you’ll hear in 2023. Turn it up and let it speak!

“Shudda Known”

It began by happenstance — a Sunday jam session among strangers in an airy barn off the Old Redwood Highway in Northern California. The chemistry was undeniable as the musicians bonded over their shared love of dark, lowdown songs of heartbreak and despair. Six years, two records, countless shows, numerous plot twists, and one global pandemic later, the Wreckless Strangers have emerged as torchbearers writing a new chapter in the storied Bay Area rock and roll tradition.

While holding fast to their Americana roots, the Wreckless Strangers have expanded their scope, both musically and thematically, for their debut album ‘“When the Sun and a Blue Star Collide.” The project is produced by Colin Linden, nine-time Juno Award-winning and Grammy-winning producer/artist and monster guitarist who has toured with Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, and the Band, recorded on countless albums, and served as a major contributor to the music of ABC’s Nashville.

All six Strangers contributed to the songwriting which explores a vast array of themes, painting a vibrant, relatable portrait of California Americana — from the sun-kissed radiance of the coast to the cosmic secrets of the mountain; from a bursting springtime romance to the darkest corners of love and loss; from the cacophony of social media to the most intimate travails of the aspiring artist.
