Marc Broussard shares the official music video for “Cuttin’ In,” one of the twelve stellar tracks from his acclaimed new album S.O.S. 4 Blues For Your Soul, produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith. The single features Roddie Romero on guitar.

“Cuttin’ In” is a classic example of bittersweet blues. Initially released in 1961 by Johnny “Guitar” Watson, it describes the aftermath of a bruising romantic break-up and the singer’s attempt to put the pieces back together. Guitarist Roddie Romero gives the track a searing edge and intensity, but the accompanying video offers a lighter perspective.

“Cuttin’ In” is a wonderfully articulated tale of heartbreak and redemption set to a delicious 50s-style stroll groove. Broussard sings his lines with the fervor of a man who needs to make things right with his love and isn’t letting anyone else get in his way. He conjures a mountain of real emotion up from inside and uses it in a very direct way. Guitarist Roddie Romero is absolutely brilliant here, too, dropping licks, lines, and tones that harken back to the gritty old days of rock and roll and electric blues. The tune’s music video is artistic and fun, using a young boy to portray the song’s main character. Broussard is a roots music master who gets better with each new release. Shouldn’t you be listening already?

Filmed in Baton Rouge, LA, and directed by Taylor Stoma of Blue Cassette Productions, it stars a local young boy, Asher Wagh, with the additional young cast as the patrons of the dimly lit lounge where the narrator shares his sad soliloquy. “These boys knocked it out of the park for me,” Broussard states. “It was the perfect approach and just the right attitude to add some levity to the storyline.”

Broussard’s S.O.S.4: Blues For Your Soul hit the Billboard Charts in its first week, landing at #1 on its Blues Albums Chart, marking the Louisiana renowned vocalist/musician’s highest debuting album of his career. The new record also reigned at #1 on the iTunes Blues Chart and splashed across genres debuting at #8 on the Americana/Folk Album Chart and a slew of other charts: #31 Independent Albums, #37 Current Rock Albums and #38 Current digital albums.

The album is the fourth volume in Broussard’s S.O.S. philanthropic album series on Bonamassa’s Keeping The Blues Alive Records. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation to support youth rehabilitation through music. This includes a partnership with the nonprofit organization Guitars Over Guns which offers students from the most vulnerable communities a powerful combination of music education and mentorship.

S.O.S 4: Blues For Your Soul was produced by blues icon Joe Bonamassa who contributed sizzling guitar solos on various tracks alongside longtime collaborator Josh Smith. Additional esteemed guests include JJ Grey, Eric Krasno, Calvin Turner, Roddie Romero, and Bobby Schneck, Jr.

Acclaimed singer, songwriter, and musician Marc Broussard channels the spirits of classic R&B, rock, and soul into contemporary terms. The son of Louisiana Hall of Fame guitarist Ted Broussard of “The Boogie Kings,” he nurtured his musical gifts at an early age in the vibrant Lafayette, Louisiana, music scene. After releasing a highly successful independent EP at age 20, Broussard made his major-label debut with Carencro. The album featured the breakout hit “Home” and catapulted him into the national spotlight. That album and the others that followed revealed Broussard as a southern soul singer with both a rarefied talent and an innate stylistic and emotional authenticity that have made him one of the most indelible artists of his generation.
