We are pleased to exclusively premiere the video “Some People” by David Rosales from his forthcoming album REVIVE out July 22, 2022. Rosales and his Band of Scoundrels aim to provide light at the end of the pandemic with their uplifting new single. The track lures you in with Rosales’ whiskey-soaked, resonant vocals as he and his band explode into the dynamic blues/rock anthem with a catchy groove.

“I’m ready to give the world a much-needed dose of positivity,” Rosales says.

“Some People” is a solid, funky, mid-tempo cut with a big beat and strong message of perseverance and empowerment. Rosales pushes back lyrically against the negative beggars and hangers-on, encouraging people to use negativity as fuel to keep moving toward success, while his horn-enhanced band pumps out their syncopated magic behind him. The video is a crisp-and-clean performance clip that puts each musician involved in a position to shine. Rosales’ vocals are cool and emphatic, packing a sweet combination of presence and resolve that lights up the whole production. Looking for a new jam to get you moving in the morning? Check this one out.

Rosales says, “We shot the music video one afternoon in this blank canvas of a space on the outskirts of downtown L.A.  We didn’t think too much about it. We jammed the tune a handful of times to get the live juices flowing and then went for it… It’s a no frills performance piece that matches the song’s style and grit.”

Rooted in blues/rock and Americana, Los Angeles native David Rosales recorded his 12-track sophomore LP, REVIVE at MAPS Studios in Fullerton, CA in late February of 2020 with his co-producer and touring drummer Mike Willson. With the addition of a Memphis Horns-style brass section of backing musicians, Rosales makes it clear that his sound has grown since his release of his acclaimed 2018 release Brave Ones. The majority of tracking was completed during a two week session and with REVIVE finished, Rosales and his Band of Scoundrels were set to hit the ground running in 2020 with tours planned both domestically and abroad. Then, COVID and the lockdown hit.

“We could see it coming across the globe in our Twitter feeds–from Europe to the East Coast and then as it traveled across the country,” says Rosales. “We finished recording the day before California locked down in March. It was a complete coincidence that the schedule lined up as it did and I feel fortunate to have captured the magic of this album during pre-COVID times.”

Never one to sit still and let the pandemic shelve his upcoming release, Rosales shifted gears and saw an opportunity to help. He took to playing weekly neighborhood “Driveway Hop” concerts so people could have a release and feel socially connected. Through his non-profit children’s charity BraveOnes Foundation, Rosales was able to distribute PPE’s and Meaningful Meals to in-need families and healthcare heroes throughout his local community. “It was all about spreading good vibes and making a positive impact during a rough period,” acknowledges Rosales.

With REVIVE’s summer release, David Rosales and his Band Of Scoundrels are hitting the road. They have shared the stage with Ben Harper, Brandi Carlile, Matt Costa, The White Buffalo, Donavon Frankenreiter, and more.
