Dom Martin, Multi Award-Winning Irish Blues Guitarist Releases “Echoes” Single

Multi award-winning Northern Irish blues guitarist Dom Martin releases “Echoes” from his highly anticipated sophomore studio album, A Savage Life out April 8^th. The song was recorded in one take with no overdubs or special effects.

“Echoes” is a beautifully introspective and melancholy song about people going their separate ways. Martin’s vocal is restrained but still keeps its rugged charm and his open-tuned acoustic guitar work is melodic, haunting, and yet full of gentle motion. He doesn’t cram the tune full of words and notes, instead choosing his chords and syllables carefully to amplify their meaning and let them breathe. Martin’s acoustic side is as exquisite as his electric side is explosive and “Echoes” is just more proof of the talent he carries in his hands.

“Echoes is about loss and finding things that used to belong to souls that have passed on,” says Dom. “It’s a song about ghostly things and memories of the past and I guess it was inspired by me returning to Belfast after periods away during difficult times in my life.”

Dom is the only artist who has been nominated for five awards at the UK Blues Awards 2022 including Blues Album of the Year (for Live at The Harlington), Blues Band of the Year, Blues Vocalist of the Year, Blues Instrumentalist of the Year and Acoustic Blues Act of the Year.

In 2021, Dom won the Acoustic Blues Act of The Year at the UK Blues Awards, as well as nominated for Blues Instrumentalist of The Year and Emerging Artist of The Year. In 2020, Dom won the prestigious Acoustic Blues Act of The Year at the UK Blues Awards.

Dom is the UK representative at The International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee (May 6-9).

Dom will follow the Gales tour with an early November UK tour to promote his new album A Savage Life, which will also include festival performances.

Produced by Grammy nominated Chris O’Brien, and Graham Murphy, A Savage Life was recorded in Belfast and Dublin during the second half of 2021. The new album features all songs arranged by Dom (guitar and vocals), with stellar musicianship from Dave Thompson (bass guitar) and Laurence McKeown (drums).
