London-based Matt Pearce & The Mutiny release their new single “Got A Thing Going On,” a horn-filled, groove-based number from their upcoming album The Soul Food Store, out April 1^st via Mutinear Records. Led by Matt Pearce, lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, and his top-tier, London-based blues band, The Soul Food Store is a follow up to their debut release Gotta Get Home.

“Got A Thing Going On” is a high-toned funk/rock track of the finest kind. Urgent, upbeat, and full of life, Matt Pearce leads from the front, pushing his amazing band to its zenith with his strong vocals and extra-tasty guitar work. The band grooves hard around Pearce and the horn parts finish off this one’s dynamic evolution. It’s the kind of song the whole world can move to and lucky you gets to jam to it right now. “The video was huge fun to shoot,” grins Matt, “We did it on the Thames in the super-groovy Soup Studios (Lightship 95 Recording Studios), where I also recorded the album and did the photos for the sleeve.

Drawing on Matt’s favorite musical influences, with a strong 70s vibe, ‘Got a Thing Going On’ catches you with its strong guitar hook, then lays out the full-blown funk, complete with strong sax.

“I can’t wait to share the first song from my new album, and to show everyone that we definitely have Got A Thing Going On!” says Matt, “The song has been in the live set for a while and was the first one written for the album, so it makes total sense to get it out there now.”

Matt’s mission statement for his musical mutiny, “I wanted to combine the sounds that I love: rocking blues and funky, soulful grooves. I could call it a ‘Funky Soul-a-delic Blues Rock Jam Thing’, but you can just call it a seriously funky blues band, like the Black Crowes playing Prince songs, or vice versa.”

He adds, “It’s such a chilled out-place: it literally became The Soul Food Store for me during the last couple of years, so it’s the perfect place to go have a boogie! Truly it’s the boat that rocks…”

The single’s 11-track parent album, ‘The Soul Food Store’ will be released on 1^st April through Mutinear Records and brims with funky musical goodness, the kind of sound that Matt adores and set out to create when he first formed this project.
