San Diego, CA 10-piece funk/soul/blues powerhouse The Sully Band unveil their latest single, “If I Could Only Be Sure,” a reimagining of Nolan Porter’s 1972 funky classic from the band’s upcoming album, Let’s Straighten It Out! set to release March 11 via Belly Up Records/ Blue Élan Records and produced by multiple Grammy Award-winning producer Chris Goldsmith (Blind Boys of Alabama, Ben Harper, Charlie Musselwhite, Big Head Todd.)
“If I Could Only Be Sure” is a simmering blast of vintage soul drenched in understated emotion on its way to the boiling point. Frontman Bob “Sully” Sullivan, a self-made entrepreneur and national radio/TV personality (who appears on MSNBC and more to give business tips and advice), has found his way back to his first true love: music. Voted Best Live Band in the 2020 San Diego Music Awards, the collective has their sights set on taking their “groovement” to the rest of the world. Anchored by Grammy Award-winning slayer of the bass, James East (Eric Clapton, Elton John, Michael Jackson, and many others), The Sully Band is composed of seasoned, accomplished players who hail from diverse locales like Japan, Panama, and the island of Lemon Grove. The horn section features sax-flute-harp-man Tripp Sprague(Kenny Loggins, The Little River Band, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, The Four Tops) and trumpet and flugelhorn player Steve Dillard (The Righteous Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd).
