In response to the recent spread of disinformation by Joe Rogan on Spotify and in solidarity with his friend, Neil Young, Graham Nash has requested his solo recordings be removed from Spotify.
Official statement from Graham Nash:
“Having heard the Covid disinformation spread by Joe Rogan on Spotify, I completely agree with and support my friend, Neil Young and I am requesting that my solo recordings be removed from the service.
“There is a difference between being open to varying viewpoints on a matter and knowingly spreading false information which some 270 medical professionals have derided as not only false but dangerous. Likewise, there is a difference between misinformation, in which one is unaware that what is being said is false, versus disinformation which is knowingly false and intended to mislead and sway public opinion. The opinions publicized by Rogan are so dishonest and unsupported by solid facts that Spotify becomes an enabler in a way that costs people their lives,” said Nash.
As of February 2, 2022 David Crosby, Stephen Stills are also removing their solo recordings.
David Crosby, Graham Nash, and Stephen Stills have requested that their labels remove their collective recordings from Spotify. In solidarity with their bandmate, Neil Young, and in support of stopping harmful misinformation about COVID, they have decided to remove their records from the streaming platform including the recordings of CSNY, CSN, and CN, as well as Crosby’s and Stills’ solo projects. Nash has already begun the process to take down his solo recordings.
In a unified statement, the band members commented, “We support Neil and we agree with him that there is dangerous disinformation being aired on Spotify’s Joe Rogan podcast. While we always value alternate points of view, knowingly spreading disinformation during this global pandemic has deadly consequences. Until real action is taken to show that a concern for humanity must be balanced with commerce, we don’t want our music – or the music we made together – to be on the same platform.”
ABOUT GRAHAM NASH
Legendary artist Graham Nash is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee—with Crosby, Stills & Nash and with the Hollies. He was inducted twice into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, as a solo artist and with CSN, and he is also a Grammy Award winner. Towering above virtually everything that Graham Nash has accomplished in his multifaceted career stands the litany of songs that he has written and introduced to the soundtrack of the past half-century. His remarkable body of work, beginning with his contributions to the Hollies opus, continues all the way to This Path Tonight (2016), his most recent solo album. The original classic union of Crosby, Stills & Nash (& Young) lasted but twenty months, yet their songs are lightning rods embedded in our DNA. In addition to his string of solo albums, he has performed and recorded with David Crosby as Crosby/Nash. His passionate voice continues to be heard in support of peace and social and environmental justice. The No Nukes/Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) concerts he organized with Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt in 1979 remain seminal benefit events.
In September 2013, Nash released his long-awaited autobiography Wild Tales, which landed him on the New York Times Best Sellers list. In recognition for his contributions as a musician and philanthropist, Nash was appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II. While continually building his musical legacy, Nash is also an internationally renowned photographer and visual artist whose work has been shown in galleries and museums worldwide, and his photography has drawn honors including the New York Institute of Technology’s Arts & Technology Medal, an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters, and the Hollywood Film Festival’s inaugural Hollywood Visionary Cyber Award. This work can be seen in the A LIFE IN FOCUS: THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF GRAHAM NASH [Insight Editions; Nov. 2021], an extensive collection of personal photographs and artistic stills.

Man, I hate this. I like Graham Nash, and he is removing my access to his music because he doesn’t like Rogan. He may be doing something he thinks is noble, but I don’t pay for Spotify to listen to Rogan. I paid for it so I can listen to guys like Graham Nash. Didn’t really care for Neal Young, but both are destroying my access to their music.
I’m not pissed of at Rogan. I’m pissed off at THEM!
I take it you feel you’re being punished because these artists are leaving, but since you don’t listen to Rogan it doesn’t seem fair?
You’ve missed the point: This isn’t about you. It has nothing to do with you.
They are leaving because they don’t like Spotify’s a sketchy business ethics.
That’s a perfectly valid reason to leave or break a partnership.
And if you’re concerned you’ll never get to hear the music again, don’t worry: It will show up on other streaming services Very soon. Neil Young has already signed an exclusive deal with Apple Music.
Besides. Contant changes platforms all the time. You should be able to see Marvel movies on Netflix. Now you can only see them on Disney+. It’s not a big deal
