The 2022 64th Grammy Awards Postponed Due to Covid-19 Omicron Surge in Los Angeles and will not take place on January 31st. No rescheduled date has been announced.
The Recording Academy and CBS announced in a joint statement on Wednesday that the 64th Annual Grammy Awards show has been postponed.
The following is a Joint Statement from the Recording Academy and CBS:
“After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show. The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority. Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks. We look forward to celebrating Music’s Biggest Night on a future date, which will be announced soon.”
This postponement is the second year in a row that the Grammys have been postponed due to Covid-19. 2021 Grammys were moved from January 31st to March 14th.
Trevor Noah was scheduled to host the show this year as he did in 2021 and was to take place at the Crypto.com Arena (used to be called Staples Center). This year’s Grammys feature 10 nominees instead of eight in four major categories: album, record and song of the year and best new artist.
The Critics Choice Awards have also been postponed from it original date of January 9th. Golden Globes 2022 will have no stars, red carpet and it’s unclear if anyone will be able to watch via livestream.
