“Tumbleweed” is the title track single off Tom Gilberts’ upcoming third release for Polymerase Records, produced by Terry Robb, with all original songs written by Gilberts.
Guitarist, singer, songwriter Tom Gilberts shimmers like the heat coming off the hard-pan desert floor on “Tumbleweed.” The track has an alluring, hazy quality to it that’s otherworldly and trance-like. Gilberts builds it on a slow blues/rock pocket about the speed of a broken heartbeat and a clean guitar tone that’s packed with sand and soul. Tom’s lyrics are questioning and existential and he delivers them with the same sort of behind-the-beat coolness he employs in his guitar work.
The result of all this is a well-focused slow jam that’ll pull you in and keep you there. Gilberts uses equal parts sound and space to create his world on “Tumbleweed” and his atmosphere is beautiful and breathable. Burn this one down after midnight to feel the maximum effect.

Tom is joined by a superlative rhythm section with Brian Foxworth on drums and Dave Captein and Timmer Blakely on bass who offer master-level musicianship and musicality. Producer Terry Robb, one of the finest blues guitarists alive, leaves an indelible mark on the production. The quality of the recording in terms of clarity, openness and dimensionality of the recording made by Dennis Carter is simply stunning.
Blues is the home base for Tom Gilberts but his original music touches on a wide range of genres including Americana, Soul, funk, roots, rock and jazz. He and his trio bring master-level musicianship to each performance that captivates audiences. A multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass and cello), Gilberts comes from a family of gifted musicians.
