Guitar Legend Bernie Marsden releases the first video “I’ll Play The Blues For You” from his #1 Blues Chart album, ‘Kings.’
Inspired by a late-night conversation with ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons about influences and heroes, Bernie created the ‘Inspirations’ series to showcase the rich veins of music of those who inspired him during his formative years. In ‘Kings’, Bernie turns the spotlight on the Three Kings, the Blues giants: Freddie, Albert and B.B King.
The result? “Bernie Marsden puts on a bravura display of guitar brilliance on this album that he was clearly born to make,” reports Decibel Report. “Bernie Marsden has the spirit of the Blues running through him like Blackpool through a stick of rock,” said Bluesmatters.
Listen to this 10-track album and you’ll find Blues jewels from the three Kings given fresh, polish and shine by Bernie’s own masterly skills, honed over five decades as one of the world’s finest Blues Rock artists. Deftly-chosen tracks like Albert King’s ‘Don’t You Lie to Me’, Freddie King’s ‘Help Me Through the Day’, and B.B. King’s ‘Help the Poor’ are given a refreshing reinterpretation. What’s more, two Bernie Marsden-penned instrumentals — inspired by the Kings — appear as bonus tracks on the album.

From Bernie Marsden’s bio, ‘He is an English rock and blues guitarist primarily known for his work with Whitesnake and is renowned as one of the greatest rock and blues guitarists of all time. After leaving Whitesnake, formed Alaska and releasing two albums in the 1980s, then briefly forming MGM with Neil Murray and Mel Galley. That band also included Toto vocalist Bobby Kimball. Into the 1990s, Marsden released several albums as a solo artist, the critically acclaimed ‘Green and Blues’ and in 1996 ‘Big Boy Blue’, ‘Stacks’ and ‘Bernie Plays Rory.’ Rejoining with Whitesnake in 2011 at the Sweden Rock Festival. In more recent years, Marsden has been involved in very different projects. The most unusual being two engagements for Sir Nickolas Hytner. He also appeared in six part TV series for German television called “Frankie.”
After years of self producing his music, Marsden signed a record deal with Mascot Provogue Records in Holland, making “Shine” at Abbey Road Studios in London. Released in 2014, the album features guest appearances from David Cloverdale and Joe Bonamassa. He also produced a blues documentary, ‘A Day In The Delta’, filmed in Mississippi.’
Bernie Marsden has played with some of the greatest rock and roll musicians of all time such as Robert Plant, Paul Weller, Jon Lord, Gary Moore, as a member of the Ringo Starr Band, Cozy Powell, Roy Gallagher, Jack Bruce, Warren Haynes, and Joe Bonamassa.
