We are pleased to premiere the new single “Back To Chicago” by powerhouse, soulful vocalist Lauren Anderson, featuring Mike Zito, off her upcoming album, Love On The Rocks, out August 6, 2021.
Lauren Anderson drops the industrial-strength breakup blues on her new single “Back To Chicago.” The track, which features the mighty Mike Zito on guitar, is spacious, captivating, and timeless. Anderson’s big-league vocals and Zito’s stinging guitar work are a righteous pairing that the world needs more of. Strong stuff, indeed.
Lauren says, “I wanted to write a rockin’ bluesy tune similar to Gary Clark Jr.’s “Bright Lights”, about my hometown Chicago. As soon as I finished the tune, I thought to myself, “Now who’s gonna bring the right swag and soul to this song that it needs?” I was so honored when Mike Zito wanted to be a part of it! He really took the song to the next level!”
The classically trained Lauren Anderson digs deep with her sultry and powerful vocals on “Back To Chicago,” a gritty low down and dirty blues/rock number about love gone wrong. With spunk and sass, Anderson sings about leaving a no-good lover behind. “I ain’t waiting around for you to change, you said your mind’s was made up, but I know you, Babe.” A soulful rocker, Lauren channels her passion into each and every tune, incorporating some of her influences like Bonnie Raitt, Etta James, Nona Simone, into her own sound.
Over the last seven years, Lauren Anderson has released three EPs, Do & Hope, The Game, and Won’t Stay Down and her LP Truly Me. She was named the ‘2015 Female Vocalist of the Year’ by the Midwest Music Awards, took a first-place finish in the ‘2018 Wing Dang Doodle Competition’ and The Game became entrenched in the Top 50 of the Billboard Blues chart five weeks in a row.
A determined dynamo performer adept at both blues and ballads, Lauren Anderson is ready to add to those accolades with her upcoming album Love On the Rocks, her most fully realized effort to date. Self-produced and due for independent release August, 6, 2021, each of the tracks on the record finds her expounding on the soulful, seductive style that allows her to break down the boundaries between rock, blues and classic R&B.
Seven of the nine tracks on Love On The Rocks were written during the pandemic, when Anderson claims she wrote a song a day for three weeks in a row. Love On The Rocks is self-produced with assistance from her band and Taylor Lonardo, and recorded at Taylor Lonardo Studios. Lauren Anderson’s band includes Matt Doctor (drums), Hutch (bass), Jimi Greene (guitar), Kiran Gupta (keys, organ), Jon and Liz Estes (strings.)
Anderson earned a master’s degree in music therapy from the University of Kansas in 2012, working as a music therapist with children and at-risk youth. While she loved the experience, she began to realize that live performance was her true calling. Since moving to Nashville, TN, Lauren has continued to tour and release EPs, albums and her forthcoming album, Love On The Rocks.
