We are very pleased to premiere the video for “Ain’t Done Yet” by the legendary British blues/rock band Savoy Brown, the title track off their upcoming album, Ain’t Done Yet out August 28 via Quarto Valley Records.
The video “Ain’t Done Yet” was shot while socially distanced because of the pandemic and features bandleader Kim Simmonds (guitar, vocals, harmonica), and long term band members Pat DeSalvo (bass), and Garnet Grimm (drums.) Each in their individual homes and backyards, this fun, split screen video features the blues rockin’ trio performing their brand of high-energy blues, led by one of the founding fathers of British Blues, Kim Simmonds. Their love of performing their music beams through this catchy number with great groove, as it does on all of the 10 original tracks on Ain’t Done Yet, each written by Simmonds.
Kim Simonds’ masterful guitar playing and the trio’s tight knit groove is a highlight of “Ain’t Done Yet,” confirming that the future of blues music is in good hands. Savoy Brown isn’t anywhere near done yet.
“The song, ‘Ain’t Done Yet,’ is exactly how I feel about making new music. I want to stay creative and look to the future even as I’m buoyed by the past,” says Simmonds. “It’s autobiographical in parts; about my love for the music life. Making the video was a lot of fun for me to do because it was the first time in months that I’ve been in ‘performing mode.’ Each of us performed our parts in our respective homes. With a new normal very probably around the corner I can see this as the start of reaching out to people in a brand new fashion via remote performances of one kind or another.”
Watch “Ain’t Done Yet”
It’s been fifty-five years since Savoy Brown helped jump start the mid-sixties blues bloom in London, England, and is one of the longest running blues/rock bands in existence. Ain’t Done Yet is their 41st album, a follow up to their critically acclaimed 2019 CD, City Night. Their fire burns strong, fueled by the drive and commitment from Simmonds who formed the band in 1965. He has been the group’s guiding hand from the first singles released in 1966. Savoy Brown established national status in the 1970’s, headlining iconic stages at Carnegie Hall, the Fillmore East and West, and Royal Albert Hall.
Many of Savoy Brown’s singles and albums have appeared on the Billboard Hot Hundred charts, including songs such as “I’m Tired” and “Tell Mama,” as well as albums such as Hellbound Train and Street Corner Talking. In 2017, the band’s Witchy Feelin’album reached #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart.
Kim Simmonds infuses the tracks on their new album, Ain’t Done Yet with a new spirit and vitality and his serious guitar chops transcend the blues/rock idiom with a variety of styles and roots sounds. Savoy Brown and Kim Simmonds have a body of work that is matched by only a small portion of musical artists. As thy continue to tour the world, young and old find inspiration in their energy, timeless music, classic style and ageless performance.
Savoy Brown will support the release of Ain’t Done Yet with a Fall tour (depending on COVID-19) that will extend through 2021.
