Phenomenally talented blues guitarist and singer-songwriter Samantha Fish has launched the official music video for her latest single “Dream Girl” today. Taken from Samantha’s latest studio album ‘Kill Or Be Kind’, which received rave reviews when released in September 2019, ‘Dream Girl’ is a sublime track that showcases the more downtempo side of Samantha’s eclectic musical palate.
“Dream Girl is about trying to be something you’re not. Someone else’s ideal or fantasy,” Samantha explains. “The video has ‘real-life Samantha’ looking for answers and inspiration. The heroine in the story might have all the pieces of what she’s looking to be, but she is still wandering through a fairy tale. There are no happy endings when you are trying to measure up for someone else. If you don’t own who you are, you’ll still end up lost in the woods.”
Samantha Fish embarks on a headline UK tour in March 2021 calling in at Edinburgh, Newcastle, Bath, London, Nottingham and Manchester. “I know it feels a bit strange announcing a tour because we’re all locked down fighting this virus right now, says Samantha, “but we’ve been working hard to set up my 2021 UK tour in amazing venues, and to be honest I want to have something to look forward to, and I hope you do, too!”
Kill or Be Kind has proven to be Samantha’s breakthrough album. The edgy roots platter was recorded at the legendary Royal Studios in Memphis and produced by three-time Grammy winner, Scott Billington and mixed by two-time Grammy winner Steve Reynolds. With 11 original songs ranging from the electric cigar box stomp of “Bulletproof” to the sweet Memphis R&B of “Trying Not To Fall in Love With You”, the album has established Fish as a potent force in roots, Americana and rock and roll.
After launching her recording career in 2009, Samantha quickly established herself as a rising star in the contemporary blues world. Since then, the charismatic singer-guitarist-songwriter has earned a reputation as a rising guitar hero and powerful live performer, while releasing a series of acclaimed albums that have shown her restless creative spirit consistently taking her to new exciting musical directions.

excellent
I’m a pretty big Samantha Fish fan and found this video really interesting. The video and song really doesn’t showcase her amazing guitar skills, so it’s an interesting song to promote. Is this a move to find a more mainstream audience ? That would be great if that’s the case.. her voice is an amazing talent as well. The mid evil theme is really interesting too… gives another look and interpretation into the song, making it more than just a love song.
