Twenty-two guitarists go head-to-head at the “6 String Showdown” Guitar Competition, Saturday August 4th at 6pm-midnight, at the Arcadia Blues Club, 16 East Huntington Dr, Arcadia, CA 91006. Four semi-finalists will compete at the New Blues Festival on Saturday, September 1st, and the two finalists will go head-to-head on the main stage on Sunday September 2nd.
The 6 String Showdown is a summer-long series of regional blues guitar competitions to crown Southern California’s best blues guitar player. The winner will perform on the main stage of this year’s New Blues Festival V, Sept. 2nd, Labor Day weekend.
A house band will be provided. Style of blues and the key will be selected randomly on stage (straight shuffle, boogie, slow Blues, major key, minor key) by one of the contestants. All blues will be in the 1-4-5 format, regardless of style pulled.
Finalists and semi-finalists will play before thousands and receive a Meet-and-Greet with bookers, club owners, A&R execs, record label owners and radio personalities. Each entrant will receive personalized PR throughout the competition. One winner receives over $5,000 in cash and prizes, including a guaranteed Main Stage slot at the 2019 New Blues Festival.
6 String Showdown has partnered with Sweet Relief Musicians Cancer Fund and will donate a portion of the registration fees, making this truly an event by musicians for musicians.
