We are proud to feature the new video, “You’ve Done lost Your Good Thing” by Shaw Davis & The Black Ties.
Every once in a while, a new artist or band comes along that completely blows me away. You’ll see what I mean when you press play on the video. We featured this guitar virtuoso and soulful blues singer once before with our review of his 2018 release, Alive from Legacy.” Many of you absolutely loved Shaw Davis. And for good reason.
How could we not feature his new video, “You’ve Done Lost Your Good Thing” as our Video of the Week? Watch and you’ll see why. I was completely gobsmacked by Shaw Davis’ fast, flashy and soulful guitar playing with shades of Stevie Ray Vaughan and other blues-rock titans. Shaw Davis & The Black Ties are a young blues-rock power trio with a very bright future ahead of them.
Shaw Davis is one of the best guitar players I’ve heard in a long time. Just outstanding.
From Florida, Shaw Davis & The Black Ties are gaining a reputation for high-octane covers of SRV and Cream, and many other revered blues and rock titans. Backed by drummer Bobby Van Stone and Bassist Patrick Stevenson, the power trio feature their own brand of psychedelic Blues and Roots Rock. Formed May of 2016, the 23-year-old Shaw Davis is already known for his raw and emotional style.
The trio won the South Florida Blues Challenge and was selected to represent Florida in the 2018 International Blues Challenge. Their shows include the band’s blend of high energy blues originals as well as renditions of covers from Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cream and many other blues-rock giants.
Enjoy! Let us know what you think in the comments below. We love to hear from you!

Shaws already amazing guitar playing only gets better and better. He & his band are fun to watch and will captivate you. I have watched how he gains instant fans at shows. Bobby is a powerful drummer who pairs perfectly with Shaw, Patrick on bass wraps up this blues powerhouse into a perfect package!
Audrey, very tight trio. they submitted for review through our website a couple of months ago. Instantly, I thought they were incredible, thought Shaw was an incredible player/soulful singer. It’s a pleasure to promote him/the band ’cause they are just so good. Hoping they’ll tour to CA.

Oh my, I have me some blues! Yes this is a great band. B.B. King would have loved this cover, would have loved to get on stage and trade licks with Shaw. Definitely a band to watch and meanwhile to enjoy. I try to see them every chance I get because they won’t be local for long. Thanks again, Martine, for sharing them with the world. My invitation is open to come down here to South Florida and hear them live:)
Jody
You are so right. Fantastic band. You are so lucky you get to see them live! That’s very kind of you to offer to come down there to see them. I might just do that. Thank you.
I have the pleasure of living in their hometown and have seen many of their shows. This video is great but you have to really see them play their original tunes to see the true genius of this band!
Thanks for recognizing them They deserve it!
Michael,
Lucky you to get to see them live! Send videos of their original stuff. We’ll feature them. This is our 2nd feature of Shaw Davis & The Black Ties plus one of their originals in one of our playlists. Thanks for the comment.
